Fed appoints head of AFL-CIO as head of NY Regional Fed Res Bank ...?

Well I'm sure the AFL-CIO has a pretty plump war chest and can afford to put in some money. But as with all the union deals they will demand a good deal of power over the organization they are dealing with. Do we really want the unions to be more powerful than they are already.
